The 3 newborn kittens you left in a tissue box in the bathroom of the P.V. Safeway are being looked after by someone who has very little chance of saving them but is willing to try. Newborn kittens need warmth and the first milk from their mother which contains life sustaining fluids to build their immune system. Newborn kittens cannot regulate their body temperatures and so have a very hard time if there isn't a mother to keep them warm. They also cannot dispose of their waste without help from their mother. As you can see, they have many strikes against them for their chances to survive.
I am wondering if you were afraid to ask a rescue group for help or just didn't know there was help? Or were you not aware of how vulnerable kittens are? Or maybe felt you couldn't handle the responsibility or were at loss for what to do? I'm sorry you didn't have anyone to give you good advice and that you weren't aware of the facts. I hope if you have the mother that you will have her spayed. There are low and even no cost programs for that. And then you will have done something you can be proud of and feel good about. Maybe you can help educate others because you have had this experience and learned something by it.
We all make mistakes even with the best of intentions and maybe you can use this experience as a catalyst to join us in preventing unwanted animals and protecting the ones who are already here.
I hope so.
